Transformational Leadership Strategies

We all want to win the race. Unfortunately, when we define that “race” as measurable business success, it is not easy. Success turns out to require more than just “acting like a tortoise.” Sometimes we need to be a hare, too.

One beautiful spring morning Bob (a member of the senior management team at a software company), was driving to work just as he had done each morning for the past 30 years.  Suddenly, Bob was involved in an accident that resulted in several injuries.  After days in the hospital, the doctors told Bob, who was nearing retirement age, he should not return to work as it could compromise his recovery and health. 

It’s the end of another long week.  You flop on the sofa and flip on the TV to unwind.  The screen fills with talking heads, then the camera pans to six distinguished leaders standing side by side on stage.  Each candidate wears a power suit; polished.  Each one a prominent leader with vast experience and a well thought out perspective.
